Founded in 2022, Story Lab is a multidisciplinary design studio for narrative spaces. We operate on a simple principle: form follows content.
This means the story, not the architecture or visual design, drives the spatial experience. Our works invite reflection, deepen connection, and shift how people see the world.
What We Offer
We’re not here to follow trends; we’re here to create the timeless wonder of what exhibitions can achieve. We begin with research and conversation, find the story worth telling, then develop the spaces, words and experiences that shape how a story is told.

Every project starts with the story. We research the subject, find the perspectives to develop impactful stories, and shape them into a clear structure that visitors can follow, with themes, zones and key messages. We work closely with clients, collaborators and subject experts so the content is accurate, and the stories will touch the hearts and minds of all visitors.

We turn content into exhibits. That means deciding which objects, images and stories go where, and what each one needs to say. We write labels, panels and interpretive text in plain language that invites people to reflect and leave a lasting impression.

Space is part of the story. We plan how visitors move through an exhibition, what they see first and where they pause. We design the spaces and exhibits to align with the content and stories they hold. The spatial experience should elevate the visit, filled with sensory details that draw people in and make the stories stay with them.

We work with media specialists to develop interactives, projections and installations that support the overall exhibition. We set the direction: what each experience should do for the visitor and how it connects to the story around it. Our media partners then bring the technology to life. Interactivity should never be decoration. It should deepen what the visitor understands or feels.

On 18 September, Hong Kong Design Centre gathered curators, exhibition designers and guests, including colleagues from Central Saint Martins, at The Chamber in DX design hub for Curatorial Conversations #280. I took part in two fireside chats: The Life Cycle of Curation, with Eddy Yu and Westley Wong of Design to Bridge, and Curation and Community, with the curators of Meow-cation and Browse and Found in Sham Shui Po. It all happened in the building where Fading Out / In is on view.
