Re:full Gamut 2023
Exhibition Overview
In 2023, Story Lab was tasked to curate and design an exhibition that describes the interconnectedness across design disciplines in the fashion design process. Re: Full Gamut, describes the process and showcases the creative works and projects that support the theme.
To highlight the multiple design disciplines and collaborations between projects and designers, exhibits are categorized into six different zones: Trends, Materials, Design Development, Production, Retail, and Re(up)cycle. Over 40 projects are selected from the Greater Bay Area to demonstrate creative collaborations within the fashion design process. Patterned labels on each exhibit allow visitors to identify and discover designers’ stories in the fashion industry's creative process from conception to the final product.
An installation highlights the marking the 100th anniversary of textile legend Lee Kung Man, The Full Gamut unveils two new commissions alongside 40+ design projects. Westley Wong (Wholly Wholly) restores the brand's iconic "golden deer" neon signage in Gradient of Centennial, paired with Frances Minji's Pantone-esque wall of 100 Lee Kung Man T-shirts, each dyed a different colour. Toby Crispy's embroidery piece, Slow Stitching the Legacy, threads together a century of craft and continuity.
