Made by Hand
Presented and organised by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office, the exhibition follows the practitioners who keep Hong Kong's traditional crafts going. Each of the eight intangible cultural heritage items brings together finished works and the tools that made them.
Our team shaped how the works are showcased. Each of the eight crafts has its own container with two windows: one for the masters' traditional works, one for contemporary adaptation. Some of the contemporary pieces come from the practitioners themselves, such as the steamer maker's contemporary steamer craftworks. Side by side, old and new show that these crafts are alive, still practised, and learned by new hands.
The initial concept also curated the interactives, so that the media and interactive team could further develop exhibits that support the overall experience.

Every window is arranged so that the works become the highlight. Colour is chosen to complement each piece, so it pops without competing with the object, and visitors are drawn in to look closely.
